Winter Warmer With Tomato & Red Pepper Sauce

The centrepiece of the McDonald’s Festive Menu 2012, is this, the winter warmer. Not a  far cry from last year’s festive deluxe burger, however it would be wrong to judge it purely on aesthetics. What we have here is the customary 100% beef patty, with bacon (always a great addition), smoked cheese, lettuce and tomato and red pepper sauce, with a new cheese topped bun. This is of course a pretty tasty looking burger, as we mentioned they are sticking to a pretty flawless, if predictable formula. The sauce is somewhat new however and At 770 Kcal, there are no surprises on the health front either. How do you like this burger? we are keen to hear your thoughts!

Chicken Celebration With Smooth Festive Relish

Chicken Celebration With Smooth Festive Relish

This years chicken burger is, well it looks like a chicken legend with different bread, but what we have here sounds pretty tasty. A crispy chicken fillet, cheese, red onions (an ingredient that I am happy to see in McDonald’s), lettuce, mayo and this ever mysterious “festive relish”. It’s likely to be a slightly spicy tomato relish, but the full review will finally enlighten us. Again nothing particularly original but it still looks worth a purchase (even at promotional meal prices). With only 620 Kcal its a bit healthier than the winter warmer too. I also think the red onion will be a nice addition. Let us know what you thought or upload a picture?

Cheese Melt Dippers

Cheese Melt Dippers

The new side introduced with the McDonald’s Festive Menu, Cheese Melt Dippers, these are the winter equivalent of Cheese and Onion Bites. This time we see breaded Camembert cheese, with 4 in a portion. They are served with a “festive” tomato dip, which is of course the winter equivalent of salsa dip. Always great to have a new side to add to the good old fries, Camembert is a new ingredient and I’m sure it tastes great warm, melted and coated in those unique McDonald’s breadcrumbs. Only 250 Kcal per portion, definitely worth a try or 10.

Orange Flavour Chocolate Pie

Orange Flavour Chocolate Pie

The first new desert we see with the 2012 Festive Menu, is the Orange flavour chocolate pie. This is a “festive” take on the every day apple pie. Its basically the same thing with a chocolate orange filling. Sounds pretty nice to me, except hopefully it wont be as hot as the apple pies are in the middle. The pie has 305 Kcal, not too bad for a fried desert, but the calories can really stack up when your not careful, especially with all this new food!

Quality Street Fudge McFlurry

The other desert we see for a limited time only, Is this, the Quality street fudge Mcflurry. This really does sound like a treat. Soft chocolate fudge pieces in ice cream with a chocolate fudge sauce. This is of course just another McFlurry, we haven’t seen a fudge flavoured one before and I am looking forward to giving it a try! 390 Kcal in this, about what we would expect for a small pot of ice cream and chocolate. Nevertheless, another nice option for dessert.

We have a nice range of new items to sample over the next few weeks at McDonald’s. Remember to let us know what your favourite is and leave any comments below!
