The BBQ Rancher is part of KFC’s new Deli Deluxe range. It is sort of like their “healthier” options, I mean healthier in very loose sense. The BBQ Rancher is available as a burger a wrap or a salad. I am reviewing the burger this time. It scored a respectable 3.5, for a decent taste and a pretty valuable meal.

The BBQ Rancher Burger

The BBQ Rancher Burger

The Rancher is a griddled 100% chicken breast fillet, with “secret recipe” BBQ sauce, mayo and salad, on a deli roll. I know what you are thinking, that sounds pretty good, why only 3/5? the truth is that it is really nothing special. you don’t get enough BBQ sauce, its nice where it is, however the rest of the chicken can even be a little bit dry compared to the fried options. But, its not all bad, the sauce really adds some flavour to the chicken which can lack taste towards the middle of the fillet, and the light mayo has a nice yet subtle cooling effect on the flavours.

BBQ Rancher Box Meal

BBQ Rancher Box Meal

In terms of value, its vintage KFC. definitely not worth £3.19 for a burger. however £5.19 for a box meal isn’t too bad. quite a lot of items at not a particularly high price. It is worth mentioning that only the Burger is available in a box meal.

Health should be a strong point for this item. Not surprisingly for the salad and the wrap. The burger however is only 80 calories less than a Wicked Zinger burger. Nevertheless, it is grilled chicken and therefore naturally a slightly healthier option.

Overall i would say we are looking at an average addition to the menu, with regards to the burger. I will reserve judgement on the salad and the wrap, though I don’t have the highest hopes. Remember to share your thoughts below…
